Pies From Baku Bangers

Having achieved a fair degree of success with our line of sausages, and having truly been bitten by 'the bug' we decided to try our hand at producing some other typically British products and entered the world of pie-making.

Our regional pies, like the sausages, are prepared by hand from the finest quality ingredients encased in a variety of tasty home made pastries.  We have tried as much as possible to adhere to the traditional recipes but unfortunately where certain items are not locally available we have had to make substitutions. Our small range of pies is outlined below:

Recipe Substitutions

Due to the lack of a availability locally of certain items it has been necessary to make the following substitutions

  •  Cornish Pasty - Swede (Rutabaga) is not locally available and has been replaced in our pasties by a mixture of white turnip and carrot.

Scotch Pie

Known in Scotland simply as 'a pie' this delicacy made from 'hot water' pastry contains a spiced, peppery minced mutton filling.

Forfar Bridies

Hailing originally from Forfar in Scotland, and like the Scotch Pie, the Forfar Bridie is more usually referred to as 'a bridie'. Our offering more correctly designated an 'onion bridie' is a crescent shaped folded and closed pastry containing a filling of spiced and seasoned minced beef and onions.

Cornish Pasty

A traditional workers meal originating from Cornwall in the SW. of England, the Cornish Pasty is eaten daily in huge quantities throughout the county. A traditional pasty will contain beef, onion, potato, swede and parsley baked in a folded and crimped short-crust pastry.
